Approaches to Art Therapy

Expressive Art

Sessions incorporate a variety of expressive art avenues to connect you to your body’s wisdom. We may incorporate activities such as painting, drawing, sculpting, vocalizing, movement, and even dancing to explore emotional states, facilitating a deeper engagement with your inner experiences.

Sessions are tailored to your preferences and comfort level to various modalities. 

Online sessions require basic art materials such as paper and a few colouring options (pencil crayons, markers, crayons, etc). Art material packages are available upon request. 

Inner Relationship Focusing

Inner Relationship focusing (IRF) is a therapeutic modality centered around the practice of tuning into the body’s subtle “felt sense” of an experience. Through curiosity, we open ourselves up to different parts of ourselves, and begin to develop relationships with these parts. During these sessions, you'll be guided to listen to your body's subtle cues and feelings in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. We focus on nurturing an inner relationship with yourself, exploring the narratives and emotions that surface, and learning to respond with kindness and curiosity.

This process can work beautifully alongside art making as sensations, symbols, and metaphors arise.
